Here are a few of the happenings in the Foods and Nutrition Classes:
- North Rockland’s Foods and Nutrition classes visited Caribbean Foods Delights manufacturing facility in Tappan NY on Nov. 17, 2015. This plant makes the popular Jamiacan Beef Patties sold in Costco and Walmart. Sabrina HoSang, COO (chief operations officer), lead a 1.5 hour tour highlighting state of the arts facility designed for efficiency and quality food production. Mr Vincent HoSang, CEO is a known business leader and philanthropist. Mr Hosang encouraged students to study science related classes and work hard to create a promising future. Students were served lunch which included all you can eat Jamaican Beef patties and Sabrina’s Delights apple turnovers at the end of the tour.
- George Malevesic, admission officer for Johnson and Wales University, presented a food demo altering commonly known Ramen Noodles. Students in Foods and Nutrition classes learned knife skills, and sampled unique Ramen Noodle Egg Foo Young. Chef George shared useful information about securing scholarships for college, as well as, ways to save money while attending college .
