Hang on for a minute...we're trying to find some more stories you might like.

Mr. Garcia is a temporary substitute for Mrs. L. Perez while she is on leave from having her baby. Mr. Garcia fills in for all of her classes and is known to be a fun and excellent teacher. You’d be lucky to have him as a teacher!

Where did you grow up?

“I grew up in Sparkill, New York.”

Where did you attend high school?

“Tappan Zee High School”

Where did you attend college?

“SUNY Oneonta”

“I teach Spanish 3, Spanish 1, and also AP Spanish with Profe Garcia.”

“That’s a tough one… my favorite was either Colombia or Costa Rica.”

What inspired you to become a Spanish teacher?

“Probably teaching abroad. My first experience teaching abroad was in Colombia and I was teaching Spanish kids to speak English, and I absolutely loved that. I felt like I wanted to do that here to some extent, whether it was teaching Spanish to non-Spanish speakers, or teaching English to non-English speakers.”

What are your hobbies outside of school?

“I am very much into sports, I am a huge Yankees fan, and a big baseball fan. I coach wrestling at Tappan Zee and privately. I also like to hang out with my friends.”

What’s your family life like? (wife, kids, brothers, sisters..?)

“No wife, I’m still a little too young for that. But, I have an older sister who is 29, an older brother who is 26 and we’re very close, and I have a little sister who’s at University of Delaware and she’s 18. She’s studying Spanish as well.”
