ROTC Happenings

For the past few months,  Cadets from the North Rockland’s Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC)  have been very busy attending training camps such as New Cadet Summer Academy and Basic Leadership Training.  In late August, several incoming Freshman attended a three day training program.  Led by upperclass Cadets, the Freshman were provided with training that introduced them to the NJROTC program.  The three day training covered many topics including marching, physical fitness and uniform regulations.  The Cadets were also required to perform community service to complete their training.  September was another busy training month for NJROTC Cadets.  27 Cadets from all grades joined Cadets from multiple schools in the Northeast region and participated in Basic Leadership Training (BLT) at Camp Niantic in Connecticut. The Cadets pushed through the challenging 3 day training.  In keeping with the North Rockland tradition, Nick Morgese came home with the honor Cadet award for the most motivated Cadet. When asked about his experience, Nick replied,  “BLT was a life changing experience for me and for a lot of other people. They say the most difficult and pressuring situations bring out someone’s true colors, for me it brought out my inner leader” Under the leadership of  Michael Love, his platoon was selected as the honor platoon.
